About the Artist
The Wilderness of the West
Jacob Bullock was born in Orem Utah and grew up moving throughout the Utah valley. Much of his childhood was spent exploring nature, going fishing anytime he could with his parents and siblings, as well as participating in yearly hunting trips with his father. He graduated highschool in 2019, and has been working on improving his ability since. He served a mission for his faith in East Texas where he had a number of opportunities to work on farms and even one unique chance to work on a bison ranch for a few months. Since then he has started college and gotten married, currently residing in Rexburg Idaho where he enjoys free access to wildlife and beautiful mountain vews in every direction.
He works to blend naturalistic depictions of anatomically accurate wildlife with more impressionistic forms of painting landscapes, studying artists like Carl Rungius and Bob Kuhn as heavy influences. He works to depict the world and views that not many get to enjoy, to highlight the unique beauty of the American West.
"My goal as an artist is to celebrate the world that we live in. It is a gift from God, and one that should be preserved and admired for generations to come."
